It’s crazy how many people are pressed about mondays off because of childcare reasons. School is not childcare.

This is awful for parents who have actual jobs and have to go into work. Especially parents with little kids. What do yall expect those parents to do with their kids on Mondays when they also have to work?!??

I can’t imagine this switch happening in Texas. Parents already complain about the holiday breaks I can’t imagine how much they’d complain over 4 day weeks

Ok but a 7:30am start is actually insane though. 9am start in BC. Imagine the time kids have to get up to start at 7:30! Wild.

I NEED THAT SCHEDULE! We started July 31 this year and we’ll get out May 22 and work with kids five days a week from 7:45 to 3:15😭

My district doesn’t do 4 day weeks but we do have a full fall break (M-F), full winter break (M-F). Plus the full week at thanksgiving, 2 weeks Christmas, and spring break. 80% of the community voted for this calendar too.

I school near me does that. They did it to help with budget cuts. When they switched to a 4 day week they save enough $$ in utilities & the like not to have to make any staff cuts.

As a school secretary and a mom, I love this all around. Does admin work the same schedule? I feel like I would be so productive on work days with no kids in the building.

The fact that there is child care is absolutely amazing and helpful for parents that work the standard M-F.

in my experience thus far, everyone is overall happier/caught up on sleep with a 3day weekend that it serves as a natural reset for the mind and body and therefore “better” working conditions for all

We love our 4 day week and the biggest question we always get is about the kids losing class time. But we meet the same education hour requirements as a 5 day school. They’re losing ZERO hours.

I love 4 days weeks!! We live rural and one main reason our school moved to it was for insane amount of savings for bus routes! Lots of high schools volunteer to watch kids or sometime they will open the gyms for kids to play my a couple teachers!
