Diamagnetic materials are repelled by both poles of a magnet, as seen with the movement of a grape. In these materials, all electrons pair with opposite spins. Examples include helium, bismuth, graphite, and water, which is a main component of grapes. When a magnet is brought near a grape (a diamagnetic material), it induces an electric current in the atoms of the grape, making them magnetic and causing them to repel the magnet. This follows Lenz's law, which states that moving a magnet toward an electrical conductor creates electric currents that turn the conductor into an electromagnet, repelling the magnet. Diamagnetic repulsion is very weak, much weaker than ferromagnetism. Only with the help of rare-earth magnets, which are much stronger than traditional magnets, has it become easy to demonstrate this weak diamagnetic force. Video credits: The experiment in the video is conducted by Mark Lorch #physics #Science #magnet
