@hollybottura: Did you know cooing is one of the FIRST signs your baby’s brain and body are talking to each other? Hi 👋🏼 my name is Holly and I was a pediatric OT before becoming a stay at home mom to 2 littles! Here sharing developmental tips and milestones, toy and play recommendations, my faith, and my daily life ✨ ⏰ You’ll typically start to hear those sweet “oooh” and “ahhh” sounds around 6–8 weeks, though some babies start a little earlier or later. My baby here is 7 weeks old! From an OT perspective, cooing supports early communication, bonding, and the oral motor control that leads to speech. 👶🏻 To encourage cooing: • Get close to baby’s face so they can see your mouth • Pause and “wait” after you talk to give them a chance to respond • Use soft sounds, conversational language, and mimic any noises they make • Hold them in positions where their body is calm and supported so they can focus on interaction And yes, unfortunately sometimes it interferes with naps 😝 ✅ if you have a young infant at home and aren’t sure if what you’re seeing is normal, feel free to put it in the comments for my thoughts! #occupationaltherapy #parentingtips #newborn #baby #milestones
