@realsteverizzo: RODNEY DANGERFIELD. One night in 1986 I sat at the bar with Rodney. I asked him how it felt to be at the top. He downed a double scotch, looked me straight in the face and said, “It sucks.” I waited for a punchline that never came. Holding the world in the palm of your hands isn’t what’s important…It’s the choices you make as you’re holding it. #RodneyDangerfield #negativeenergy #beliefsystem #inspirationalspeaker #steverizzo
This is 100% spot on!! I was a (Sober Companion) to huge rock stars, movie, stars, and TV stars. And super successful CEOs. And I saw this over and over and over.

Ya know Mr. Rizzo…you speak the truth. Like most people…I had those dreams of fame and fortune and thought if I could achieve that…I’ll have it all. Well that is so far from the truth. I’m glad I didn’t achieve what I thought I wanted because most who have all that…are not as happy as we think they are. My faith in God keeps me grounded and if something exceptional does happen in my life…then I will know because of my faith who I would need to thank. Because as much as we think we do…we do not achieve anything on our own. And on the way to any type of possible success…we need to enjoy those special moments if we are fortunate enough to get them. Thanks for sharing…I love Rodney Dangerfield and hopefully he was able to enjoy a little of that success before the end came calling. Making people laugh was his gift to the world and it would have been a shame if he didn’t laugh himself along the way. God rest his soul always🙏

I had a different celebrity tell me the same thing also in a private conversation. Your speech resonated with me.

As Jim Carrey said, he wishes everyone would be rich and famous. Then they’ll realize that’s not the answer

I saw him at Bagel Nosh on 1st Avenue one night after his show. I think that was the only time he was happy when he was hanging out with other comedians and no fans.
