Genuine question as an upcoming teacher within the next few years (junior in college), how did you get your kids to listen to you when you were student teaching? I’m halfway through my first semester of it and these kids will not listen to me at all and it is so draining 😭

I started taking notes every day about what kids were doing as I was walking around to facilitate independent work. Kids started asking if I was going to call their people. I said no, but when your people call me asking why you have such a low grade, im going to have specific notes to respond with.

I do the same thing with timecards. If they don't give me their time sheets when they're supposed to, they don't get paid until the next payday.

the policy that every student be given infinite opportunities to demonstrate their learning got so absurd at one local school that they were accepting work THE FOLLOWING YEAR for classes a student took the year prior. absolutely BONKERS
