@investordna: Maybe you’ve spent decades mastering the art of optimization; your work, your money, your health. And maybe at some point, there’s nothing left to optimize. And maybe that’s when the real work begins: learning how to be present for the life you’ve already built. #retirementmindset #retirementplanning #canadianretirement #financialwellness #wealthmanagement #financialplanner #purposeinretirement #mindfulmoney #lifebalance
It’s a similar conversation I have with people approaching retirement about saving. It can be VERY hard to turn down the frugality and saving mentality and shift towards spending and enjoyment.

As a CFP I find this the hardest thing for clients—especially men. Their “identity” is tied to their titles and achievements. This is timely—love this!

This is critical well before retirement. Being present is a challenging fact and takes a lot of work.

I retire in four days, and this is exactly how I feel! And this is exactly what I hope to achieve in retirement. Being present. Striving requires that you overprioritize in every moment and manage access to your time, which means access to you. I long to know what it feels like to let go of that and be present. Thank you for the video.

Thought provoking indeed!!! I don’t know if I’ll be brave enough to actually say the words “I’m retired.” It’s not just a money thing. Thank you for the balance of mental reality and fiscal responsibility.

For years we think that retirement = savings, and the whole purpose of our lives become to “have enough”. And we completely abandon who we are, what we want to focus only on accumulating.

Hey Riley, a lot of this is really true we spend so many years working and not getting to those ball games and spending time with our kids and our grandkids and then all of a sudden you need to retire but you’re still short on retirement. Reinventing ourselves so we can start learning to relax. There’s that shift from go go go to getting back to what’s really important our families.
