PLEASE get an independent, blinded, third-party review of the scans, ideally with:Two or three subspecialty liver radiologists who aren’t affiliated with MSK or UMass, RECIST and volumetric measurements to objectively quantify tumor growth. Optionally, functional imaging (like PET or diffusion-weighted MRI) to assess metabolic activity, which can reveal progression even if the tumor size is ambiguous. Correlation with tumor markers (like CA 19-9) to add another independent line of evidence. You didn’t overreact, but you can’t trust either opinion particularly MSK because of institutional bias. Please seek a third opinion ASAP.
