The good thing about mechanical engineering is that it’s so broad that you will qualify for so many types of jobs. The job is easier than engineering classes! I graduated in mechanical a few years ago.

Im in computer science and I love technology but college is just miserable to me for some reason. When I study subjects on my own time im super invested but in the classroom… I despise it.

I got my bachelors in computer animation and now getting an associates in mechanical design. If you don’t like it.finish it through and have that degree under your belt and get into something else.

Hey yeah def thug it out. I also did a mechanical engineering degree. Now I’m a software engineer. I obviously do not use any of the academic materials anymore but I still use the problem solving skills and the resilience. Mechanical engineering students are known in the industry to be easily mouldable because uni is so hard that almost nothing else is too much harder. You can go into consulting or something

HI! If you talk to people who graduated with an engineering degree, you will find out that like 50% of them currently don’t do anything associated with what they studied. They might be doing something adjacent or using the skills and critical thinking that they learned in school and apply it to other areas in corporate and business. BUT the good thing is that an engineering degree opens way more doors than any other degree can, no one‘s gonna say no to you because you have an engineering degree - more jobs are open to you that aren’t necessarily engineering jobs just because of your degree compared to other degrees!! people will take you seriously, you will have more opportunities. this is a great choice you made, and you should definitely follow through and graduate, and then you can pivot to something more human based or tech based if you don’t like the more “hard-core” stuff you’re doing now, that’s precisely what I did. I have a half tech half human facing job and I really enjoy it versus one of my mech-e friends who was obsessed with her major is working a very specific mech job. She is happy with hers and I am happy with mine. Sky is the limit!!

honestly, be strong and finish this degree. it must be exhausting to study something you hate and have to do something you hate, but i believe you will be able to do a lot with your degree and i also believe it's never too late to start another major.
