The irony is they’re making cars to be better for the environment, then get sent to the junk yard in 8 years

The manufacturer is buying the whole panel from a supplier. Hopefully someone will make an aftermarket kit to repair. Just like a door hinge. They buy it ready to go. Parts separately are no garanteed to fit or be the same.

Right to repair laws need to be in every state. This kind of forced up charging because of poor craftsmanship also leads to insurance costs going up because instead of fixing one little piece they now have to replace a larger more costly item.

My 1991 dodge stealth lasted to 400,000 miles because I was able to keep repairing it every time it broke.

Mass consumption, planet eating capitalism at its best. Don’t worry, we’re about to run out of resources, so soon junk is all we will have.

This is why I will forever hold onto my 2004 Silverado. I’ve taken the door panels off many times and have never broken anything. It’s crazy just how simple everything used to be back in the day.
