If they cover the whole road surface as opposed to just the lines or edges, I imagine it would be really tiresome for the eyes at night.

In Sweden we have lines on the sides of the roads, so when there is no light on the roads, you still see the white lines and don't drive off the roads

This is not new! Monaco originally did this in tunnels specifically for the Grand Prix drivers when they were racing and would go from sunlight to dark tunnel. This was done to avoid accidents by drivers, fun fact of the day. M
