I think it depends on what you are talking about and if the teacher agrees with your theories. We too (Cindy and I) spoke a lot. We were changing their perception, teaching styles or if any of it was affective. Ie proved my kid is the problem... Yeah, the teachers hated us... So I don't think it's the quantity of talking but the quality of talking and if they agree.

As long as the parent and teacher are on the same page and working well together. When they just sit there and nod their head you have to wonder what they are thinking.

It's a bit of yes and no. I've had some amazing conversations with parents about their kids. The conferences are, however, meant to put the teacher's face and personality to the name you see next to your kid's grade. That plus the time crunch conferences usually have makes it more effective to let the teacher talk rather than gushing about your kids. I do appreciate when parents really like their kids though so I don't think I'd mind.
