There are actually no contemporary sources that state how the disciples died, that’s all solely within church tradition and the accounts of how most of the disciples died wasn’t written down until the 3rd or 4th century. I think Peter is the only exception but otherwise there’s no contemporary proof they even existed.

“What did they see that was worth dying for?” What evidence is there that they died? Of the twelve, one committed suicide (or exploded…), one went around preaching until -maybe- the Romans killed him, and the other ten… went back to being fisherman? There isn’t any evidence to suggest the other ten did anything. For all we know they constantly told everyone around them that Peter and Jesus were liars.

the same question can be asked about the 14+ eyewitnesses to Joseph Smith's gold plates/angel. None of them ever denied their testimonies even on their deathbeds, and never got anything but hardships and persecution for it. Personally, I believe both stories are true.
