@bradys_bookshelf: #tiktokbookrecscontest Books: East of Eden Beloved The Brother Karamazov The Waves Swann’s Way I’m not sure anything will top these for me anytime soon, but I’ll forever be chasing the high from the experience of reading these for the first time
I read East of Eden this year and it's honestly the greatest story every told.

I just finished the Brothers K. It took me one year to read, got bogged down a couple times. The courtroom was the pinnacle of literary genius. The last couple pages were transformative, I felt different, like I could be a better man.

Fantastic list. I’d add Foucault’s Pendulum by Umberto Eco. I’ve read that book 23 times and it still blows my mind every single time with how profound it is by the time it ends. Lia is my favorite character in all of fiction.

Did you have moments in Beloved you just struggled to get through? I thought the intro was perfect, but then randomly throughout the novel I would struggle to follow what exactly was happening, only to be engaged again pages later.

East of Eden is subpar. Idk anything abt the rest but I am one vote strongly against or at most indifferent to that one
