It's not a scam at all. It's paying for convenience. Also, buying each of the spices, the first time, is a lot more expensive. It's interesting that a melon is often cheaper than the pre-cut packages, people choose what they pay extra for convenience.

surely I am not the only one who buys numerous jars of spices for random recipes, and use a small amount, then don't use any more and they stay on the shelf and go out of date, so hardly cheaper

The Asian shop by us does the fajita mix and you get quite a few meals out of the one packet. I think it was £1.79.

Cumin, Garam masala and Chili powder. That's essentially most curry/chili base spices. it's a total scam. I bought nearly a kg of Kashmiri chili for 7 euro in an Asian market

I live in Perth Australia, and we can't get the smoky version of old el paso fajita mix here, just the mild version. I always bring loads of it back when I visit home 😂

The recipe is available online. I only ever make my own spice mix as I always have a fully stocked spice cupboard. I think people need to educate themselves about spices more 🥰🥰
