“Computation Engineering”, what we truly work on is the computation of information, not the devices themselves. Hardware is just a medium; the essence lies in how information is represented, structured, and transformed. It’s not pure math or pure physics, though it draws from both, standing closer to mathematics in its spirit… “Computer Science” was a product of its time; today, we don’t study computers, we engineer computation. A more fitting name for the field might be Information and Computational Sciences, but Computation Engineering captures its essence best, the art and science of shaping intelligence through information.. 🤓

Personally I like the term “Informatics”. It’s the closest translation to how the field of study is called in Greek, “Πληροφορική”, and it’s an apt description of the field as a whole as “Information Mathematics”. However, unfortunately, all the cold Greek names are used for specific fields of study of CS. For example Αυτόματα (Automata) (which is the study of robots in the otiginal Greek) has come to be a field of study in Computation.
