In Germany there is a dish called Birnen, Bohnen und Speck (Green beans with pears and bacon) are cooked together in one pot, and it’s usually served with boiled potatoes. Sounds unusual, but the sweet pears and smoky bacon make a really comforting combination.

A tip to get through your green beans! 🫛 We like to add green beans as an extra layer in Bobotie (South African dish). For a (Dutch)-Indonesian approach: you could try making Sayur Beans (Sajoer Boontjes in Dutch) with sambal or perhaps even your own chili crisp, or Sayur Lodeh with the addition of other vegetables as well 🥥🥕🫑! Hope these may be useful additions to the list, or to someone else. 🙈
