@anna..papalia: 80% of the impression you make in a job interview is non-verbal, so practice conifdent body language. ❌NEVER sit with your hands in your lap. ✅Take up space ✅Put your hands on the table and sit up straight ❌Do NOT give short answers I understand, you’re nervous and you’re worried that if you open up too much you will reveal things about yourself that will disqualify you but it’s a greater risk that you will be disqualified because you don’t open up. It’s a recruiter’s job to figure out if you are technically qualified and a good culture fit and they can’t do their job assessing you if you don’t open up. ❌Don’t make the interviewers job difficult. ✅Show your personality and sell yourself. 👩🏼💻If you’re in a virtual interview over Zoom or Google Meet, practice using the technology before the interview. Play with the camera settings and find a professional background. ✅Your entire torso should be in the frame. Not just your forehead. ⚠️Remember, the way you present yourself in a job interview is how they think you are going to be when they hire you. ✅Prepare. Practice and do your research. ✅Get an Interviewology Profile to discover your interview style and nail your next job interview. #jobinterview #interviewprep #jobsearch #unempolyed #careeradvice
That’s why the work place is full of toxic fake people.

How you present yourself is not necessarily how you perform in the job

As an HR director I agree with most but I have come across candidates who speak well and present themselves well with their posture etc and end up being a complete failure in their job. I’ve also come across people who do poorly during their job interview but end up being a great employee. Some ppl are just not socially gifted and bomb interviews but do wonderful with their job. And vice versa

That’s not completely true. I am a nervous interviewer and I am not a nervous employee. It’s night and day. I’m not a used car salesman. I’m not calling myself a used car, I’m just not a sales person.

you are not hiring a confident speaker... you are hiring a worker who just does their daily excel sheets.... so we better fire HR and we don't need HR

What I hate is when I am qualified with years of documented experience along with references and you base the 10 minutes you took judging how I sit in a chair to make a smart decision for your company.

Lots of pushback from people in the comments. It’s simple, go to the interview and conduct yourself as if you’re already an employee. If you can’t do that, then you won’t be an employee. Simple!

Are you a recruiter or hiring manager? Recruiters usually have no idea what the profession is and are just a pass through to the hiring manager/site lead.

I was taught manners growing up, which includes no elbows on the table! Since when is it inappropriate to have your hands folded on your lap??? It doesn't mean my head is down. I've gotten jobs with my hands in my lap.
