From what I recall the police wanted to be certain they had rock solid proof which is why they had to take the time to ensure he wouldn’t be able to wriggle out of it. Certainly they needed to act on Joanne’s evidence sooner.

An ex boyfriend of mine was a prison officer in one of the prisons Ian spent time in and apparently he was very manipulative even then, getting female prison officers to iron his clothes etc.🙄 So it sounds like it was only a matter of time before some other prisoners caught up with him, the general consensus was that he wasn’t very liked amongst them then also
