@mrdubblup: Kettlebells changed my life It’s crazy that an 800 year old cast iron ball with a handle on it would get me in the best shape of my life I’m the strongest I’ve ever been My flexibility and mobility has increased My core is strong And best of all I’m PAIN FREE I got into fitness like most people I stumbled from machine to machine trying to slap together something in hopes of getting swole and ripped As I learned more, I started employing typical bodybuilding methods You know… bench press, bicep curls, leg extensions. Targeting individual muscles For years I did chest days, leg days, etc. and built a nice physique I did that in my 20s and 30s Then I hit 40 And it all caught up with me Turning 40 made me reevaluate my reasoning for training in the first place Because while I looked great and would get compliments all the time I was stiff and constantly dealing with some kind of pain And those muscles I built had no real use outside of the gym I would always use kettlebells here and there in my training as a supplement, but never took them seriously About 2 years ago I shifted my training style, focusing less on isolation training and bodybuilding style workouts and more towards functional strength training that used multi muscle compound movements The more I worked this style the more I would use kettlebells, subbing out machines and dumbbells for kettlebell movements Fast forward to today and 80% of my training is with kettlebells The result is a strong and lean physique that can move like a toddler with insane range of motion My back pain has disappeared and at 42, I feel better than I did in my 20s! Me too. I used to go to the gym or work out for 2-3 hours each day. After I healed from a back injury I decided to do a kettlebell routine on Thursday and Saturday then I'd start fresh the following Monday. The program said "full body" but didnt believe it. it was only 6 movements. the next day when I woke up I couldn't move i was shocked, every muscle in my body was sore. I designed 356 programs and added a push up, pullups, neck extension and an arm routine to the kettlebell routines.
