@chemclassrules: in this one we melt and then boil some paraffin wax in a test tube, then immediately dunk the hot test tube into an ice bath. this cracks the glass, forcing water into the test tube which immediately vaporizes. this forces paraffin, which is above its auto ignition temperature out of the tube with spectacular results. * as always this was performed in the lab, with an extinguisher, blanket, and shower just out of frame. remember, we're professionals and you burn easy mac. don't do demos like this at home* #Science #chemistry #combustion #reaction #chemclassrules
