and if one day you see me loving someone else, please don’t think i moved on that easy. it took a lot of nights convincing myself it was okay to stop waiting. i tried to keep the pieces together even when my hands were shaking. i still looked for you in songs, in strangers, in places that had no right to remind me of you. i stayed longer than i should’ve, hoping maybe time would soften the edges, make us make sense again. but sometimes love just… runs out of places to grow, no matter how much you water it. i didn’t stop caring, i just got tired of hurting over what wouldn’t come back. i still think about what we could’ve been if things were a little different. if timing wasn’t cruel. if love was enough. maybe in another life, we’d get it right. maybe we’d still be laughing at the same old jokes, pretending the world wasn’t heavy.
