@bentune: I'm trying to tune this '06 Silverado today, but it just isn't having it. All of my usual tactics don't appear to be working though, so maybe it's time for a new tool to enter the chat... I've waiting for a while now to try out my new J2534 tool and it's looking like this truck will be my first rodeo with it. #bentune #cartok #tiktokautocampaign #mechanic #tuning
cheap high output phone chargers will pop those fuses as well.

The instructions state to pull the radio fuse prior to a read/write

All that work and tail chasing for a 4.3L! Still love to see all your diagnostics and step by step processes regardless of what engine

Man, that sucks. I had an 06 Cateye on the dyno today. I had to use the benchtop harness after each pull to flash it.

How many times have you ever had a car show up for a tune that you were able to just straight through tune it with zero issues that needed fixing? Because at this point I’m not sure those exist 🤣

I found a lot of aftermarket alarm systems mess up the communications.

just went through this on a 2006 yukon denali , my security failed , and gm don't have them anymore, so I had a tuner vats delete , but it took 45 min and 5 fused pulled to make it work

That looks to be an aftermarket remote start unit, which is probably tapped into the comm bus to override the passlock VTD. Could be chatter on the bus from that interfering with your VCI?

I used to have problems with mine reading because it had aftermarket remote start I would have to unplug the remote start module to be able to read in HPTuners

how bad is a "Controller Unlock: x36 Exceed Number of attempts" code when trying to read a vehicle?

That’s a remote start, definitely doesn’t look like a good install right off the bat with it just hanging around.

Those trucks don't need that chime box. All of our cateyes we chunk them in the trash. They work just fine.

That is actually a very standard radio harness.

also, I always pull the radio fuse on my personal 03 2500hd every time I flash it. I have a Pioneer deck with that scosche black box. I never even tried with the radio fuse in just because of how picky they can be.

I had lots of issues with older 99-07 vehicles as well. I made my own little stand alone harness and flash them that way. I leave the PCM in the vehicle and just unplug the connectors. I rather play it safe than risk bricking a pcm
