Henry.Iona :
I’ve walked this path. In the midst of preteen/teen chaos, I made a conscious decision to lead with calm strength. I made it a priority to stay present in my son’s life, as he took us through some dark moments, because I knew being a dominant parent would push him further into frustration and resentment. His mum and I separated when he was young, and I still carry the memories of those early years, precious moments when he was just a kid, full of innocence. Now 19, he’s grounded, respectful, and hardworking. Most importantly, he knows that no matter what happens, his father stands beside him, not as a perfect parent, but as a father who refused to give up on him - a goal I set for myself, at the begining when he was just 13yrs old.
A sound ending - and well tested at every checkpoint. I changed as a parent, not once but many times - but at least Im still 'his' parent. ❤
