It still baffles us why people don’t look outside of the United States for ski or snowboard trips. Not only is it cheaper than most resorts across the board but you also get the cultural experience to go along with it. Looking at the lift tickets alone is enough reason to go to Europe or Japan for your annual ski or snowboard trips. The price comparison in the above graphic is for an adult day lift ticket at Stubai Glacier in Austria and Park City Resort in Utah. We actually priced out for our family of 3 and the price difference is even more staggering. Especially because kids under 10 ride for free at Stubai; where as at Park City kids 5-12 years old cost $187 a day. With the above mentioned about us pricing out for our family of 3, this is why our lodging cost was for a 2 bedroom hotel. We had a 2 bedroom hotel room in Stubai with half board - meaning breakfast and 5 course dinner was included. I couldn’t find a 2 bedroom hotel in Park City that also included the same meal options so that would be an additional cost. My comparison price of lodging in Park City was for the Grand Summit which was an equal room to our lodging in Austria (4 stars) with 2 bedrooms. That said, not only is it cheaper to go to Austria for lodging but you can also score 2 meals a day along with your stay at most hotels in the Tyrol Valley. Lastly, we priced our flights out of NYC as it gave a fairly equal distance of travel both directions. You can find cheaper costs to both destinations depending on the time of year you search but our search for comparison was over Thanksgiving weekend which is when we travelled to Austria. If we priced out of our small hometown, there was a bigger difference in price in favor of Park City but we also live close enough to Utah that we would just drive down if we were going to vacation there. Hope this post inspires you to look around the globe for your next ski or snowboard trip and if you ever have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Happy shredding friends! #snowboarding #skiing #travel
