@reasonandreligion: I study philosophy of religion so I can never escape philosophical concepts of death. Every civilization has their own idea of what occurs after. I personally believe that this is all we get. I do not believe in any afterlife or redemption. I understand that this can raise anxiety, fear, and perhaps nihilism for many. Here are three books that approach the topic from 3 different angles. #philosophy #BookTok #books #bookrecs #BookRecommendations
Probably worth reading about NDEs from actual experts and researchers on this subject, such as Bruce Greyson, Jan Holden, or Pim Van Lommel, among others.

I died once, I saw or felt nothing. All I felt were the jolts after they pumped me with epinephrine to restart my heart. Maybe I wasn’t dead long enough to feel or see anything.

Being dead is simply not waking up from a dreamless sleep. And I love sleep so…

as far as bibical approach, what happens when we die isn't as neatly stated as we see grandpa again or something. but it does point to a renewed Earth. which is what i strive toward by following Jesus. so in a way I've already defeated death. so i don't really have fear because idk what to be fearful of im living a love stronger then the grave

I left christianity, I used to believe in hell for unbelievers. I got over it by using rational thinking. 😂

The first book is extremely misleading. A lot of it is based on 1990s era of ndes and neuroscience assumptions of the time. The first premise in her arguments of oxygen is actually refuted by current scientific studies. The answer is that we have no clue what is going on in ndes. Whether coinciessnes survives or doesn’t we don’t know

I’d rather choke on a raw cactus than read Being and Time again. I read it for my Dissertation and it sucked. Dasein, fools.
