The tank on the back is for water. It went on the brakes when they're going downhill to keep them cool. They didn't have jake brakes back then

Why are you passing an old school flatbed holding your phone in your hand? And is it safe to be filming while you’re driving?

Big mule :
Wheels on the landing gear is so the trailer can be spotted aka moved around without the truck old trucks and trailers didn’t have spring breaks so no air means no brakes you drain it and you can move them around the tank I can’t answer why they put it there other than they just did maybe traction or just it’s size

Philip Hurwitz :
Pre 1975 trailers did not have spring park brake. When air leaked out it rolled unless chocked wheels. You had to pre charge it before hooking up. The movement would bend landing gear unless wheels let it move. The tank is not fuel & is water. Before jake brakes the service break would get hot & loose breaks. They sprayed water on all breaks to cool down.
