"I want you be loved bayou" The meal for the night is the common Louisiana fare is grilled Red Fish. The blackened fish arrived on a crowded plate with two sides of choice. It's typically paired with mustard greens and jambalaya, but the greens here were replaced with the house mashed potatoes for weight. The plate could be better presented for the price, with the jambalaya used as a bed for the fish. Seasoning was perfect on the blackened fish, requiring no accompaniments or sauces. It looked bit but was thin, and will likely leave a hungry guest wanting something else. Both the sides were a let down. The jambalaya was covered in liquid smoke, which I confirmed with the kitchen, and punched thru all other flavors and spices with an artificial note. While it was spiced well, it was difficult to taste most of the other ingredients due to the smokiness. The potatoes were good but nothing special. It would've been better to add a bit of paprika or something to tie it all together. The first drink I requested was a lemonade but it was unpalatable. Watered down, tasted old, and the waitress took me not touching it as a call to remove it from my tab. The service was excellent! It also played well as the very vibrant and refreshing French Quarter Fizz Mocktail really raised my spirits. It arrived bubbling and smoking, and the presentation matched the taste.
