I got a bunch of lentils and beans this week and am making one batch of lentil soup to freeze and hand out to some friends, then another to freeze for myself. I only have half of a freezer for my stuff, so I am limited on the amount I can store up. Trying to keep some dry goods around, but, again, storage is at a premium in my small kitchen. I am thankful it is just me, so I can cut down on how many meals I eat each day if needed and can have enough leftovers to feed me for days. My big splurges have been rolls of ground breakfast sausage that I get on sale and freeze, eggs, and good cheese I like so I can make the best breakfast burritos. It is the one meal I look forward to.

And maga and centrists told us it was horrible to expect families to put “social issues” above the cost of living. No… we just expected them to wake up to the propaganda making them think a corrupt businessman cared about the cost of living at all

I have four kids. Our groceries are typically $400-500/wk. Everyone gets free lunch at school in MN so I don’t even have to cover that. It was literally half that cost in 2021. Why tf is a box of Cheerios $8???

We have to just stop buying it. It’s the only way the corporation will realize we aren’t paying $8 for a box of cereal. We’ve been eating veggies, bean, rice, and chicken. I’m refusing to buy beef. They can bring the prices down or we aren’t buying it.

It’s awful. They are going to price gouge people literally to death. I refuse to shop at most places because of this. We only shop at Aldi for groceries now. They are the only store around us still reasonable in their prices. They even lowered the cost of their thanksgiving meal bundle this year by $7. That’s who I want to support.

I have stopped buying candy and oreos because how is a tiny bag (that lasts maybe a day) $7??? on SALE?? I've changed the things I buy and when I buy them, making it a point to only get things when they're on a STEEP sale. which means I don't make a lot of things I used to make.

I’m struggling to feed our family of five. We have a 6 year old, and twin 4.5 year olds. They’re growing kids. They need fruits and veggies and healthy protein. Luckily I have a yard and live in a warm climate. I’m starting a garden in my yard and seriously considering chickens for eggs. America is in a gutter right now and I hate it here. Life is so freaking hard All. The. Time. We pay more for our health insurance every month than we do on our mortgage. WTF is happening?!?! How are people surviving?!?

Thank you for pointing out that about the younger generation with crap pay. The boomers don’t get it! My adult children are in their early 20s and make more than minimum wage wage, but they’re barely making it. EVERYTHING is 3x the price when I was that age and min wage is still the same $7.25… milk is $5! Eggs are $4! Make it make sense. people wonder why “no one wants to work” well, this is why. No one wants to work for poverty. Texas wages and price gouging are detrimental and dare I say calculated. 😢

Hiii from a fellow SLC girly- I have found smiths to consistently be the cheapest here (got frozen pizza for $5 today), and they are giving people $20 each for getting a flu shot and an additional vaccine. Also, Trader Joe’s sells produce by the each not weight so you can go there and get the biggest squash, onion, etc and save some money that way 💕

Making the most money I've ever made and now feel like I've been kicked all the way back down the ladder. It is a kick in the teeth and I am concerned about the future.

I just moved to the UK, and after my first very basic shopping trip for sandwich supplies, yogurt, and a few toiletries, I spent £16 ($23ish) I went onto the Meijer app and found that the EXACT SAME grocery trip at home would have been $48. and that was for the cheapest versions at home, I didn't even get the cheapest options here.
