I’m on vacation in California and all they give out is wheat based straws. I went and bought a package of 100 plastic straws. I took them everywhere we went.

Wheat straws are safe for people with celiac disease because they’re made from the stem of the plant, not the grain. Gluten is only found in the grain. The stems don’t contain gluten and nothing dissolves into the drink. They’re considered gluten-free and approved by celiac specialists. My Dr. approved

Disneyland property has gotten so much better at knowing to be like “the straws aren’t gluten free” when you’re ordering a gluten free meal. But it’s RIDICULOUS that STRAWS aren’t gluten free!

Omg this bar tender just automatically popped one in my drink before I could stop her and I just watched in horror and then told her and she gave me the biggest eye roll…. I am fully aware saying I’m allergic to paper straws sounds ridiculous no need to remind me lady 😭

Or realizing the straw is some kind of not-plastic so you have to see the box to first find out if the straw has gluten AND THEN having to ask them to remake your drink 😭😭😭
