lower your expectations. It will help you. I'm at 60%. Of Dusk. The story is more interesting. But it is not written / edited structurally in a way that connects you to the characters. Unless there is a dramatic shift in The Ascended, maybe this is just how they write ... so it may not bother you.

I did riftborne duskbound and then the ascended defo the best reading order each book gets better and the reveal makes ascended even better

I loved riffborne!!! But Duskbound is A LOT better. The story just expands so much. Riftborne is like a prequel, lol

as someone who read riftborne/duskbound first then the ascended..I would recommend that you read riftborne/duskbound first...by reading those first it makes the end of the Ascended a jaw dropping moment and the impact of that would be taken away if you don't read those first...please read those first!! lol

Coming from the other side… I dnf’d Duskbound. But I’ve heard that the ascended is so much better and it seems like a whole new set of authors so wrote it. I’m conflicted since I didn’t love either Riftborne or duskbound…

There's a lot of world building until 40%. I was so confused at the beginning of Duskbound, but so is the character. I LOVED it so much more than Riftborne. Hang in there!
