This morning I lined up for a Zwift race and finished 47th out of 103 riders. On paper, there’s nothing extraordinary about 47th place. But the paper doesn’t tell the whole story. I came into this race completely exhausted. It had already been one of the biggest training weeks I’ve had in a long time. More elevation than I’ve climbed in months. More power than I’ve ever consistently produced since I started cycling. Over 100 outdoor miles already in my legs. Multiple strength sessions with a heavy emphasis on leg work. I didn’t wake up feeling fast. I woke up feeling empty. But we don’t race to prove where we belong on a results sheet. We race to discover who we are when everything in us wants to quit. When we’re rested and fresh, almost anyone can have a good day. The real test comes when you’re carrying fatigue, when your legs are screaming, when your body is negotiating with your mind before the start line even appears. This morning my body told me I’d be lucky to finish. It told me I’d probably get halfway through, climb off the bike, and call it a day. Instead, I kept turning the pedals. So I’ll take 47th place with pride. Because today wasn’t about beating 56 other riders. It was about beating the voice inside my own head that said, “You don’t have enough left.” Sometimes the greatest victories aren’t found on the podium. Sometimes they’re found in proving to yourself that even at your worst, you’re still capable of something extraordinary. That’s the race that matters most. #CMTUnbroken #ZwiftRacing #AdaptiveAthlete #CyclingLife #NeverQuit @Zwift @Strava
