@godlygirls.podcast: I used to wholeheartedly believe everything happened for a reason; trying to make sense of all the tragedy in my life. I was VERY passionate on the subject, so much so I wrote a book about it, but recently a conversation with someone almost made me feel guilty for the thought. “Everything does not happen for a reason, some things just happen because this world is evil.” The person then went to give examples of shootings, and even mentioned car accidents, and how someone is always at fault. ((Forgetting my story was a car accident where I was at fault.)) And I wrestled with this. The “reason” was me. I crossed the centerline. I swerved and hit the truck. She mentioned how “God isn’t in that” But then I remembered my God… and that He is ALWAYS with me. I thought of the story of Job. And how the adversary was only allowed to bring destruction on him within the parameters God allowed. God is not in evil— that is true. But He is COMPLETELY sovereign and could end all the evil right now. But He doesn’t… Because that would mean He’d have to end humankind. Not one of us would be left. We all have a time where our lives are going to end, and the way we breathe our last breath may be in the hands of something evil, but that doesn’t mean it’s outside of the will of God. He knows exactly how the world will end, and how your life with end. I’m still a firm believer, everything DOES happen for a reason. And I know that’s hard to hear… because in my moments of hurting I saw no possible light. Until I did. Until I truly found Him and surrounded it all. I have been on the receiving end of so much evil from this world… but from it, God has molded and made me. When someone opens up to me because a part of my testimony resonated with them— I’m reminded of the authority and all knowing power my God holds. That is the reason. To point others to Him in their suffering because I have suffered and found the answers in my brokenness. To give Him back the power in my life. To say “this is in the hands of evil alone” is to take away a story of redemption! The reason is to give Him the glory, and be a vessel to save the one. That’s all the reason I’ll ever need.
