(you’ll just need a National Park pass). A guide is not required, but you can hire one if you want extra safety or local knowledge. 🥾 The hike starts in Kennicott and is about 4 miles roundtrip. Expect tundra, streams, and rugged alpine terrain. Moderate fitness is enough, but be ready for uneven ground and changing weather. ❄️ Step right onto the ice! You’ll need to bring your own crampons and choose your own route. There are no marked paths, it’s all up to you. Watch for crevasses and stay safe. 💡 Tips: the best time to visit is in Summer (June–September) for the best weather. For gears bring hiking boots, layers, sunglasses, and crampons for the ice. I will also recommend to start early to enjoy fewer crowds and stable weather.
