It’s because Unlike Active Duty Army, National Guard and Reserves only come in once a month to train (could be admin work or things related to their MOS -Signal, logistics, engineer, etc) not always combat arms. Sooo they probably only do a PT test once a year…and their leadership also only comes in once a month and still has a civilian job. So the paperwork showing the failed, which would usually chapter them out (Kick them out of the military) gets lost or swept under the rug.

“Train” once a month. When I did my stint in the reserves after active duty, I was told I couldn’t take the platoon on a run because everyone would fall out.

Can’t speak on the army standards. But navy, when I was in, was for regular navy 12.5 minute mile, 25 pushups, 25 situps. My job wasn’t regular navy so it was a little bit harder, not much though, and throw in 20 pull ups.

I was NG for 6 years got out in 2022 and this is very accurate I was one of the few in shape. It’s weird going from 9 months of training to going back home chilling with your boys and then getting a normal job/kids then having to go back to training once a month- 2 weeks. Have to battle that lifestyle. Not an excuse but a reason why there was fattys

national guard are not real military. National guard isn't even federal military. they are state militia. the only reason trump can order them around is because their governor gave him the power to do so. They have a completely different life and expectation since they are not required to deploy like the real military.

The military is just desperate bro. You’d be surprised how many overweight military members there are. All due to the eating, drinking, pretending to be hurt and get a doctors note to get out of PT. The militarys changed and that’s why I decided not to reenlist😴

“I get that they aren’t active duty marines” while talking about people in the army is comical.

The fat ones over here in the Marines (it’s rare but happens) usually just get phased out. Don’t worry the military is still very fit. Atleast the Marines are lol

Not to defend them, but these are not our troops. These are not soldiers. These are fill-ins for when our soldiers are busy with real work. No, this is not our military’s standard. These are people who train ONCE A MONTH. Of course this is what you get when you put in the bare minimum.

Active calls them “nasty girls” for a reason. To answer your question, their “training” weekends involve a good bit of standing around, maybe checking that vehicles still work, sitting through a sexual harassment PowerPoint, and then maybe having a class about some random task. These aren’t infantry, so it’s especially bad. At least combat arms jobs usually do PT and some form of training. But it call comes down to budget and injury prevention being the driver for limited physical training.
