you cant rewrite it without the bracket because the bracket is still unsolved so do 2×4 and the 8÷8 to get 1

You said yourself that we prioritise from left to right, the multiplication was before division so why wouldn’t we multiply first and then take 8 divided by 8 = 1 ?

I promise you all it’s 16 and not 1. It’s not a trick question, you don’t use the distributive property here, you just follow PEMDAS. Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication OR Division, Addition OR Subtraction. He explained it exactly how it’s solved and there isn’t any other way to do it. I didn’t type the multiplication symbol in my calculator, it does it automatically.

I thought you dealt with the brackets first, hence 2x4 first. obviously rewriting the brackets into a multiplication you do the division first, I just thought in this case you couldn't.

We use BODMAS in most of Africa. Bracket, Orders (or powers/roots), Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtraction
