With all honesty, when people ask me why I didn’t have kids, I say “I was never in the right relationship to have kids”. Honest truth. Whether it was me or them, it never felt like the right space to invite a child into and that’s not selfish.

I’ve never understood why someone needs to spread their dna and procreate. There are so many kids that need loving homes. So what’s the need exactly, to leave a piece of you behind or to experience motherhood? It is selfish to just want to have your dna exist in the world after you’re gone, especially with how the world is going.
