2x6s are used in colder climates because you can pack more insulation in them also if you have multiple floors in your house they're usually built out of 2x6 is to support the extra load of the floors above.

Color theory is so fun. I saw lots of people hoping youd do green AND blue like in your entry. But due to color theory, you can see a blue tint to the floors accidentally. 😆 turned out STUNNING

I know this is late for your diy but you can rent tools! you pay the full price but once when you're done you just return it! think places such as autozone and home depot let's you rent !
