Sleep training is the ONLY thing that helped me. The insomnia clinic UK online has a course which genuinely changed my life. I recommend it to everyone. Helped my mum who is a lifelong insomniac too

The only thing that cured my insomnia is mirtazipine, I tried everything, even imported melatonin didn’t help.

Lifelong insomniac since childhood here as well. Once you get to the point of having anxiety about going to sleep, it’s really difficult to overcome. Go on sleep aids. Good for you? No, but much better than not sleeping

I have also always had pretty bad insomnia but found that once I went on an SSRI for my anxiety, my insomnia really eased (not cured, but eased). You’ve likely gone down this road, but it’s worth a try if not!

the biggest thing that has helped me is the study that came out and showed that even closing your eyes and not sleeping does some of the repair that sleeping is meant to do. So just laying in a dark room with your eyes closed is helping your brain recover and process to a significant level. This meant I can close my eyes and when I'm panicking about not sleeping, remind myself that eyes closed is doing almost as much work as sleeping and I just aim to close my eyes for 30 minutes. if I fall asleep great, if not I've still done something!

I read an article a few months ago about a lady that struggled massively with insomnia, it turned out that her airway was too narrow and she kept waking up / having nightmares because she wasn’t getting enough oxygen. It was a guardian article called “I spent four decades not sleeping a wink - until a doctor took my insomnia seriously”. Might be worth reading in case it resonates with you!

Insomnia is absolute TORTURE. No joke at all. I’ve taken melatonin and it hasn’t worked at times.

Lifelong awful sleeper, I listen to audiobooks through the night which helps to distract from the anxiety of not sleeping/the bad cycle of thoughts. Also a reminder you’re not alone, insomnia is so isolating. Hope you manage to get some rest in some form soon.

melatonin gummies (I stock up in the US or get friends to bring it back for me) and listening to podcasts in the dark until I fall asleep to distract my brain

The only thing that helped me with insomnia was therapy. I cleared my brain. I am not 100% there, but it was worth it. Not saying this is for everyone ❤️🩹 Hope you finally have a nice and restful sleep ❤️🩹
