Mr Smith Chart :
I've bought a bunch from HGR. I worked for A-B/RA for 25 yrs. I've bought a ton of test equip from them. They had a great 2 day 50% off sale a week or 2 ago! I live in Lorain Cty!

This makes me feel better about hoarding so much hardware that gets thrown out at work. Heaps of usable electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic components, nuts and bolts etc. it’s saved my bacon so many times already

What are those plastic bins called? I’ve been looking for them but all I can find is sideocrate.

I work in industrial automation for a manufacturer. I regularly go through the trash cans and save things that are broken, but not REALLY broken- ie: I just saved a ~$10,000 servo driver that needs a mosfet replaced.

Do you guys have industrial surplus stores near you? I’m curious what else is out there besides HGR.

I wish my wife understood about collecting components for future prototypes. I'm currently developing a low input (~$200/year) aquaponics system that generates over 1k lbs of food without fertilizer or pesticides. It takes lots of components like pipes, fittings and valves, you name it to design a proof of concept. Finding cheap or free materials to test prototypes are essential to keep going. Otherwise I'd be broke after each failure. Instead, I'm getting immensely valuable data to make adjustments for a successful system when I finally do make it with new components.

Value is good if you actually use it. Otherwise it’s collecting junk
