We had a sow that tweaked her leg. We gave her pain meds and kept her down for a few days in a stall . She bounced right back.

Maybe some pain meds and have a vet xray to see how bad the break is? See if it can heal on its own or needs to be pts.

I can honestly say pigs are some of the most resilient creatures I’ve ever seen. It’s hard telling which way he will go with the injury.

So my husband use to show pigs and his family owns a long time family pig farm. He said that it will be a LONG road of rehab and he MIGHT recover. But he may only be breeding sound through IA and may never he able to mount a sow. A vet would be able to determine how bad the pelvic is damaged. Good luck on the poor guy!

I wouldnt breed him... It is hard to tell from the video but his legs, I think are bad, like bad posture. That makes problems in the long run and I think thats what is going on. Like infected joints in ankle or toes. Probably both and in front and back legs. Fracture in pelvis, or in ligaments of pelvis makes them limb.

Keep him separated and reduce his feed some to keep him from gaining weight. If you have somewhere that the sows can’t get him worked up that would be even better.

Pumba is such a gorgeous tubby boy, but I’m going to be honest with you it’ll be easier and cheaper long term to just put him in the freezer and save yourself and hubby the time and money it’s going to cost to possibly rehab him.

Maybe you can have him collected so he isn’t a total waste. I didn’t know if you want to take that gamble maybe talk to the vet to see if that structural issues that lead to an injury or an actual injury.
