this is why 2020 was a Speedrun for grocery companies to hyperinflated prices and systematically cut labor and stagnate wages. they made INSANE profits during fiscal year 2020 and the capitalism model requires them to make more profit every year. they won't cut corporate salaries, but they can save a lot by paying one person to do three jobs.

It's not more efficient to make speculative lumber purchases and ship them 1000s of miles to a warehouse, only for someone else to make a speculative lumber purchase and ship them 1000s of miles to a different warehouse
