A Day will come when even the closest relationships of this world will feel distant, and every soul will be overwhelmed by the reality of standing before Allah alone. On that Day, there will be no escaping your own account and no distracting yourself from what you sent forward for the Hereafter. The Qur’an describes the desperate wishes of the wrongdoer, who would be willing to offer those closest to him in exchange for his own escape. That Day reminds us of something we often forget: we will ultimately stand before Allah individually. While we still have time, let’s prepare for that meeting. Turn back to Allah, seek forgiveness, and don’t allow the distractions of dunya to make you forget the life that lasts forever.
