To be fair in the UK somebody reports a vehicle stolen and youโre found with it, youโre probably going to be arrested. I think they did have probable cause based on the dealershipโs report, the only thing they did wrong was not telling him that.

I'm in England. I hope the dealership gets a good kicking. The cops should also should get a good kicking for not saying why he was arrested till the interview at the station. Should of been told at the stop. It is an arrest if handcuffed
