@ellierebecca123: How to annotate your books and WHY you should be annotating if you want to engage more with what you are reading. Featuring my legible copy of King Lear #literature #annotatingbooks #kinglear #academia #reading
i used to get fomo seeing ppl read hundreds of books a year, but do they truly get the books they’re reading? i feel like annotating is almost necessary! why read a book without interacting with it at all? its like a conversation.. are you really just letting someone speak for 100k+ words and have nothing to say at all?

i loove annotating!! sure, it definitely takes longer to read a book, but it also makes it so much more fun. reading a book in that way is almost like it’s own hobby and i adore it so much.

I love annotating books with color sticky’s with each color having a different meaning because I don’t like my handwriting and I’m afraid of writing in a book

The count of monte cristo is actually set after Napoleons first return from exile after the Napoleonic wars! That’s why he is sent to prison because they think he helped him! Not to sound like an “erm actually” person

I think annotating helps with reading comprehension. There are many ppl who read a book and forget. I also like annotating classics so that i could pass to those i love so they could read it and see what ive annotated

annotating is the proof that a book was lived in. It's the evidence of a mind at work, having a convo with the text. It def turns reading from a hobby into an experience. So keep annotating! ur not just reading but truly getting it!

I don’t like to write in my books so I have started a book journal so I can write down my thoughts, parts that stand out, words I’m not sure of etc. it’s new for me but enjoying so far & feel it’s helping me appreciate the book more.

i read a book three times, and i wrote in it each time. it's super fun how my older self comments on my younger self's ideas about the topic

i just can't read without annotating... i feel as of i'm having a conversation with the book.. also, i like to write similar references from other literary texts too on my books

Have you already created a video of things to annotate? Ive never done it and unsure of what are good topics to keep track of but I want to be better with it!

I always do it.
I want to understand the book as best I can. TBH, though, I rarely understand the notes when I return to them. That won't stop me always making annotations. I think you know why.
