🔥 “Only those who sit can stand.” – Watchman Nee Watchman Nee (1903–1972) was a Chinese Christian teacher, writer and church planter whose ministry kept bringing believers back to one great fact: everything begins with what Christ has already done. Born Ni Shu-tsu in Shantou on November 4, 1903, and raised in Fuzhou, he was converted at seventeen in 1920 through the preaching of Dora Yu. Soon afterward he came under the quiet influence of Margaret E. Barber, whose life of prayer, surrender and hidden fellowship with God marked him deeply. By 1922 Nee was preaching, writing and gathering believers outside denominational structures. From Fuzhou the work spread, and after he moved to Shanghai in 1928 local assemblies multiplied across China. He trained workers, travelled widely and poured himself into Scripture. His books and messages would later appear in works such as The Spiritual Man, The Normal Christian Life, The Release of the Spirit and Sit, Walk, Stand. “Only those who sit can stand” comes from Sit, Walk, Stand. Nee’s point was not laziness but position. Before the believer walks before men or stands against the enemy, he must know that in Christ he has already been made to sit in the heavenlies. “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus” Ephesians 2:6. By the time of Nee’s arrest in 1952, hundreds of local churches had arisen in China. In 1956 he was sentenced to fifteen years, yet he was never released. Prison took his pulpit, his meetings and his freedom, but it could not take Christ from him. He remained confined until his death on May 30, 1972. His ministry did not end behind prison walls. His writings crossed languages and continents, while churches shaped by his teaching spread through Asia and far beyond it. Living Stream Ministry continues publishing his works, and his influence remains strong among Christians around the world. Nee taught men to stand, but he first taught them where strength begins. The warrior who has never learned to rest in Christ will soon discover how weak his own legs are. 🔥 — #WatchmanNee #Quoted #SpiritBroods #RestInChrist #SpiritualWarfare
