@floriangadsby: Some shapes can be deceptively tricky to throw, like this bud vase, a straight cylinder by all accounts, but with a fold at the top and an inward sloping rim that leans to a narrow opening. I tend to leave the upper walls a medium thickness as the initial cylinder is taken up, as it means I have plenty of material to work with when forming the more intricate top, as opposed to attempting to throw the same shape with upper walls that are already incredibly thin. The narrow opening is the thing I see people recreate inaccurately the most, I’m tagged in lots of videos of people throwing this form, normally the opening is left too wide and proportionally, and visually, this destroys the appearance of the pot in my eyes, it’s neither here or there, yet most importantly it won’t hold the inserted stems upright enough, which is sort of the entire point. I’ll have a number of these in various sizes in my next online shop restock, which goes live towards the end of November.
