They fell in love during the Liberty Bond Tour in 1916, where they were joined by Charlie Chaplin, and became one of America’s first married celebrity couples in 1920. At their Beverly Hills mansion known as Pickfair, they hosted such huge stars as Albert Einstein, Helen Keller, H.G. Wells, Amelia Earhart and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Though they ultimately divorced in 1936, it’s said they both regretted that they never got back together.
