I do this now! its amazing how easy it is to adjust on the fly, if it feels too stiff after your first shift you can pop the knot and reset in no time

have had the same skates since the mid 90s i have never had to replace any eyelets i lace my skates the old way and have never had any problems

That’s a runners shoe heal lock lacing technique. Can be difficult to get undone with hockey laces, but it will hold them tight.

I do it the Crosby way and it’s been great last few times on ice - no requirement to tighten. (Skip second from top eyelet)
