is this satire...... it's a pto request not a guarantee. why wait 2 weeks before and not when you planned the trip. most of the time it is first come first served and for a major holiday duh you have to request early.

I got laid off after 5 years of blood, sweat, tears and loyalty. I had 200+ hours of PTO left (and that was even after my maternity leave) and I almost didn’t get it paid out. TAKE THAT PTO!!!!!!!!

Holiday PTO approval is tough and usually based on coverage, seniority or first person who requests it - always check the calendar at first of year and plan ahead!

Working anywhere that requires you to “ask” for PTO is a red flag. I tell my boss when I’m going on PTO; I don’t ask…and they support that.

First time at a job? This isn’t “toxic” this is very, very normal. You’re not entitled to the PTO just because you asked. It’s part of your compensation, yes, but you still have to abide by the rules and their business needs. Everyone else that put their time in likely requested the holiday time off months ago. Some do it almost a year in advance.

I decided yesterday I wanted to take a half day tomorrow (Friday) - so I blocked my calendar and that’s the end of that 🤣 I don’t ask for PTO - I tell them when I’m taking it. No ifs, ands or buts. I earned it - I’m using it.

I don’t get the comments. PTO is yours to take but the company also needs to have coverage. That’s why there are usually rules set with how many people can be off at once, how far in advance to submit for pre-approval, etc.
