My dads ancestors had to escape a massacre at Pacheco pass near casa de fruta 2 children ran for their lives to firebaugh ca hid with the Mexicans because president Roosevelt had a ransom for natives that’s how most Mutsun members ended up in the Central Valley

I’m Ohlone. That is my land. But a colonizer wrote a book in 1950’s that our proletariat were extinct! That’s what the BOIA TOLD ME! I’m like I’m right here so is my daddy!

My school recently went on a trip to the Santa Cruz mission and they did tell us some of the truth but we are still learning more in class and it is sad I didn’t know what went on but they are teaching us about it

I know who is actually from here. In Morgan Hill on Watsonville Road. There is an ancient area that used to have a spring dance festival for the Ohlone’s. It was matched making for the different areas. There’s even petroglyphs there.

I used to work doing labor jobs in the mountains, once in a while I would find clam shells next to Old oak trees. it was a reminder of people that had been there before

Taught about Ohlone people but not their truth and how horribly they were colonized. When it was my son’s time to learn about the missions in 4th grade I made sure to teach him the truth.
